Stability of the Knee: Management of Common Ligamentous Pathology
presented by Dan Rhon

This course is part of our OCS Prep-Program. Learn more about the full prep-program here: MedBridge OCS Prep-Program.

A well-focused history and physical examination is the key to properly assessing impairments of stability in the knee. Injury to the ligamentous structures in the knee joint is common with acute traumatic knee injuries. This can significantly compromise the stability and integrity of the joint, leading to high levels of impairment and increased risk for development of degenerative joint disease. Concluding this course, conducted by Dr. Rhon, will give you a better understanding of the role that cruciate and collateral ligaments play in function and stability. You will be able to accurately articulate the most common patterns of knee ligament injury, and have a better understanding of the appropriate components of a comprehensive and clinically relevant physical examination of the knee. Sports Injuries of the Pediatric Patient: The Foot and Ankle

TheraBand® Kinesiology Tape: Research and Methods
presented by Phil Page

The first course in this four-part series on TheraBand Kinesiology Tape focuses on the research and methods of kinesiology taping. Kinesiology taping is a popular clinical intervention, yet there remains controversy about its efficacy. Typically applied to reduce musculoskeletal pain, other claims of efficacy include improvements in strength, range of motion, swelling, and function. Research behind the efficacy of applying specific patterns, directions, and tape tensions remain scarce despite widespread training programs. This course provides a scientifically-based approach to applying kinesiology tape and by recognizing the limitations in the literature. By combining the best available evidence with clinical experience and patient presentation, clinicians will make better clinical decisions when using kinesiology tape.

This is the first course in the four-part TheraBand Kinesiology Tape series. Please be sure watch the following three courses:

TheraBand® Kinesiology Tape: Basic Applications of the Upper Quarter
TheraBand® Kinesiology Tape: Basic Applications of the Lower Quarter
TheraBand® Kinesiology Tape: Clinical Integration

presented by Jacqueline Shakar

This course will be retired and no longer available as of January 13, 2023. Please complete the course by December 31, 2022, to receive credit.

In this course, presented by Jackie Shakar of the Graston Technique®, using a case study mode of presentation, patients with movement dysfunction of the upper and lower quarter will be evaluated using a functional testing approach that highlights the principles of regional interdependence. The Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and a detailed assessment of posture and breathing according to principles of the Postural Restoration Institute are included. A review of relevant anatomy with a focus on current research concerning connective tissue and fascia and its response to manual therapy and exercise therapies is included. A detailed plan of care will be presented which emphasizes the inclusion of manual and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization via the Graston Technique® as it is applied statically then with 3D movement, load and provocation. Corrective exercise strategies that are determined based on the results of functional testing are included via demonstration and laboratory practice. Adjunctive therapies that complement the use of the Graston Technique® including neural flossing, kinesiology taping and self myofascial release techniques are included with respect to current available evidence regarding their effectiveness.
