Home Health & Hospice Agencies: MedBridge Onboarding Is Now CHAP Verified!

You might have already heard the exciting news, but MedBridge has officially received verification from the Community Health Accreditation Partner (CHAP), the most experienced home care accreditation program nationwide. After completing the rigorous evaluation, MedBridge’s onboarding education shows no roadblocks to executing the CHAP Standards of Excellence, and innovates to improve the delivery of high quality care earning CHAP’s verified status.

So what does this mean for you and your organization? Let’s take a closer look at CHAP, the verification process, and our updated onboarding education.

Who is CHAP?

Founded in 1965, the Community Health Accreditation Partner is an independent, nonprofit organization accrediting providers of home and community-based care. As a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)–approved accrediting organization, CHAP surveys organizations providing home health, hospice, and home medical equipment services to establish if Medicare Conditions of Participation and DMEPOS Quality Standard are met and recommend certification to CMS. CHAP partners with organizations nationwide to advance quality in the delivery of care and services in the home and community.

How does CHAP verification help ensure quality and standardization of care?

MedBridge has long been the industry leader in continuing education for healthcare professionals, partnering with the top instructors from across the world. But continuous quality improvement is a vital part of our process to ensure that MedBridge is providing clinicians the highest quality education. The CHAP Standards of Excellence are the most rigorous in the industry—in fact, MedBridge is only the second educational provider to have their content earn the elite status of CHAP Verified.

Why did MedBridge pursue CHAP verification?

MedBridge is committed to providing the highest quality content on the market to improve the clinician experience and quality of care. It’s an unfortunate reality that turnover in home care is high, and new nurses need to be onboarded regularly to meet the high demand in the field. Many home care organizations are under pressure to get new hires in the field faster with the skills they need to succeed, while still keeping them engaged and satisfied over the long term.

To keep up, home health and hospice providers need to trust that the education they provide their staff meets standards of quality and is verified as aligned with the CMS Conditions of Participation for home health and hospice that are needed for clinical accuracy and education standardization. By providing the highest quality training content, organizations can put their new hires in the best position to succeed while improving the clinician experience and overall quality of care, and have education that ensures they are survey ready with up-to-date federal and state compliance regulations that are easily tracked and reported.

How does CHAP verification affect MedBridge’s onboarding courses?

CHAP found the MedBridge courses to be high quality, thorough, and engaging. Following their recommendations, there was an opportunity for MedBridge to further connect the course content to CMS regulations, and promote learner understanding of the why behind the education.  In addition to updating material in the courses, a few additional changes were made to ensure the best experience possible.

Let’s take a look at a couple of the courses that received CHAP verification.

Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) in Home Health
Emergency Preparedness in Hospice

The first thing you’ll notice is the CHAP verified seal on all of our updated courses, so you immediately know the course you’re about to watch or assign meets the highest standards in the industry.

We’ve also updated the course descriptions to include specific CHAP standards and linked federal regulations, so administrators have as much clarity into the course as possible:

To promote learner understanding and access, an introductory slide was added to each course specifying CHAP standards and linking relevant federal regulations:

Introducing CHAP Orientation Education

One last exciting addition is that MedBridge now provides recommended Orientation education for CHAP-accredited organizations that are aligned with CHAP home health orientation and hospice orientation requirements and federal regulations. These courses can be assigned to your staff to meet CHAP home health and hospice orientation requirements and federal regulations.

Conclusion

CHAP verification is an important next step to deliver on our continued commitment to educational excellence for our clients. Agencies using MedBridge can trust that the MedBridge onboarding education meets CHAP’s standards of excellence and CMS conditions of participation for home health and hospice, so you know that your staff is getting the very best education on the market.
