Presented by Alexis Wright, PT, PhD, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Femoroacetabular Impingement Syndrome Part 1: An Update for Clinicians
There has been a 25-fold increase in the number of hip arthroscopies performed between 2006 and 2013 primarily in response to improved diagnosis and treatment of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) syndrome. Advanced Rehab for the Baseball Pitcher to Improve ROM & Strength
Presented by Lenny Macrina, MSPT, SCS, CSCS
Advanced Rehab for the Baseball Pitcher to Improve ROM & Strength
This course, intended for the physical therapist, occupational therapist, or athletic trainer, will outline the anatomy and biomechanics involved in the baseball pitching motion. The unique profile of the baseball pitcher will be presented, which will help the clinician better understand and deliver a quality plan of care. An evidence-based approach to some of the common baseball injuries and a general treatment regimen will also be presented to educate the clinician. At the end of this course, the rehabilitation specialist should be able to evaluate and treat a baseball pitcher with much more confidence.
New Advances in Vestibular Rehabilitation
Presented by Susan Whitney, DPT, PhD, NCS, ATC, FAPTA
New Advances in Vestibular Rehabilitation
This course will describe the latest advances in vestibular rehabilitation from around the globe, and will provide the learner with ideas about why their patients do not get better. The course is designed for physical and occupational therapists who treat persons with balance and/or vestibular disorders. Treatment ideas might also be helpful for persons who are physical therapist assistants and COTAs. The information shared in this course is appropriate in any clinical setting as persons with dizziness and balance disorders are seen across settings. Examples of virtual reality devices, infrared googles, and novel treatment paradigms will be shared. In addition, new testing methods will be described that can help to optimize intervention. A discussion of the negative prognostic factors related to recovery will be provided with case examples to help clinicians' better goal set and develop their treatment plan.
Spina Bifida Examination & Intervention Strategies: Children & Teens
Presented by David Chapman, PT, PhD
Spina Bifida Examination & Intervention Strategies: Children & Teens
This course presents the anatomy and neuroanatomy associated with the three primary types of spina bifida as well as the pathoembryology and etiology of spina bifida. Perinatal management of spina bifida will also be presented. In preparation for conducting a comprehensive physical therapy examination, the most common types of impairments associated with spina bifida will be presented. Physical therapy examination strategies, including the use of standardized tests for children and teens with spina bifida will also be discussed. Intervention strategies designed to treat primary and prevent secondary impairments will be offered. The course concludes with a case study regarding the motor development of a child and teen with spina bifida.
