The second course in the Dementia Care Basics series, learners will take a deeper look at strategies for effectively caring for people with dementia. Throughout this course, learners will explore some common myths and misconceptions about people with dementia, define the goals and core concepts of person-centered care, explore techniques for implementing person-centered care at their facility, including how person-centered care fits into the rituals of daily life, participation in meaningful activities, social and familial relationships and pain management. The Dementia Care Basics series is created in alignment with the CMS conditions of participation for long term care facilities and section 6121 of the Affordable Care Act.
