1. The Need for a Standardized Evaluation Protocol

Use of a standardized protocol is necessary to ensure consistency across clinicians and facilities. We will discuss a suggested protocol for administration of FEES.

2. Correlating What Is Seen to Physiology

Because many physiologic events are not directly visualized during FEES, interpretation is often considered to be challenging. In this chapter, we will discuss how to correlate what is seen (symptoms) to physiology using FEES.

3. Scales to Aid in Interpretation of FEES

Using standard metrics across clinicians and settings improves patient care by ensuring clear, consistent communication of exam results. In this section, we will discuss available scales for interpretation of FEES.
