Children on the spectrum often present with difficulty regulating their feelings. This is the first of two courses on how to manage and prevent difficulties with frustration and anxiety. This course describes how caregivers can best think about difficult moments with children in order to achieve better outcomes. With the right understanding, caregivers can manage their own emotions to better manage the emotions of their clients. Ways to de-escalate crises and help children regulate themselves are described. When problems repeat themselves, we must understand the triggers to those problems so we can eventually prevent, rather than simply react, to these challenges. Seven common categories of triggers to frustration and anxiety are outlined in detail.
