As a patient with dementia reaches the end of their life, you should strive to provide culturally sensitive, person-centered care that meets your patient?s changing needs and respects his or her preferences regarding end-of-life care. You also have a responsibility to minimize your patient?s physical, emotional and spiritual distress, while maximizing comfort and well-being in a manner consistent with their preferences. This course includes a discussion on planning for end-of-life care as well as strategies for ensuring person-centered care during end-of-life, so that you're prepared to work with patients and their families during this difficult time.

The Dementia Care Basics series is created in alignment with the CMS conditions of participation for long term care facilities and section 6121 of the Affordable Care Act.
