There are many factors that impact a person with dementia's safety and wellbeing. This course includes a discussion of how dementia impacts a person's activities of daily living, including three key areas that can greatly impact your patients' overall health and wellbeing--food and fluid intake; pain management; and social engagement. This course also includes person-centered strategies for ensuring the safety of your patients, including a discussion on techniques for ensuring safe wandering, preventing falls and your patients right to restraint-free care.

The Dementia Care Basics series is created in alignment with the CMS conditions of participation for long term care facilities and section 6121 of the Affordable Care Act.
