Clare Frank

Dr. Frank is a board certified specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS) and a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (FAAOMPT). She currently serves as a clinical instructor for both the Spine and Sports Rehabilitation Fellowship programs at Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles. She has served on the Injury Prevention and Rehab Team for the National Training Center in Beijing, China (2010-2013) and the medical team for the 2009 World Figure Skating Championships held in Los Angeles. She is a certified instructor for Janda’s Approach to Musculoskeletal Pain Syndromes, and Kolar's Approach to Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization.

A graduate in physical therapy degree from Northern Illinois University, she went on to complete the Kaiser Permanente Orthopedic Residency program while working on her Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy & Biokinesiology at University of Southern California. She holds a post-professional doctorate degree from Western University of Health Sciences, Pomona, California. Dr. Frank’s clinical career is greatly influenced by Shirley Sahrmann PT, PhD, and the Prague School of Manual Medicine faculty, namely, the late Vladimir Janda MD, Karel Lewit MD and Pavel Kolar PT, PhD. She is a certified instructor for Janda’s Approach to Musculoskeletal Pain Syndromes, and Kolar's Approach to Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization. She has presented at both state and national conferences. She currently teaches in the U.S. and internationally and has co-authored “Assessment and Treatment of Muscle Imbalances: The Janda Approach."

Born and raised in Malaysia, Dr. Frank began competing in badminton at the age of 10 and won several state and national competitions. She represented Malaysia in the International Women's Uber Cup Championships prior to leaving for the United States to pursue her education as a physiotherapist at Northern Illinois University. While at NIU, she earned All American honors and the distinguished Broderick Award. Her experience in competitive, elite sports and training as a world class badminton player has set the backdrop for her keen interest in the neuromuscular system and its relationship with musculoskeletal pain syndromes and dysfunction.
