Jeanine Beasley, EdD, OTR, CHT, FAOTA is a professor at Grand Valley State University's Occupational Science and Therapy Department and is the coordinator of the OT Weekend/Hybrid Program. Jeanine is a frequent guest lecturer and has spoken in thirteen states and five countries. She has authored and coauthored nine book chapters and eight journal articles, many dealing with arthritis, orthotics, and the use of simulation in OT programs.

This course provides an update on the current evidence for therapeutic management of extensor tendon injuries and conditions in zones I and II. It includes a review of the anatomy, as well as conservative and postoperative treatment interventions. Demonstrations of specific orthoses will be included. This course is designed for the intermediate occupational therapist, physical therapist, physical therapy assistant, and certified occupational therapy assistant with experience in hand conditions.

What are orthotics that can be effective in the management of upper extremity peripheral nerve injuries? This course will include a review of the upper extremity peripheral nerve anatomy and the specific injuries and compressions that can result in functional limitations. The use of orthosis and how it relates to the treatment of median, ulnar, and/or radial nerve dysfunction will also be discussed.
