Misty Kevech, RN, MS, CCP, CPTM is an RN Project Coordinator for Quality Insights, the Quality Innovation Network (QIN)-Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for the states of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and Louisiana. Her responsibilities are with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) Home Health Quality Improvement (HHQI) National Campaign and involve researching and writing Best Practice Intervention Packages (BPIPs) for home health. BPIPs provide information, tools, and resources on key topics to improve patient outcomes. She coordinates all the educational activities for HHQI University and all the continuing education activities for multiple disciplines. One of Misty's focus areas is on underserved populations and their specific needs including patients who are in underserved areas, those who are dual-eligible, experience significant health disparities, and those served by small home health agencies.

Home Health QAPI Part 1: Introduction
Home Health agencies are required have a comprehensive Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) program as part of the Conditions of Participation (CoP). QAPI is a systematic data-driven method to identify and develop a Quality Improvement Projection (PIP) to improve patient care. This course will provide insight and guidance to create or modify QAPI program by learning about the five standards and their application within an organization. This course will focus on four of the standards and the fifth will be addressed in Home Health QAPI - Part 2.

Home Health QAPI Part 2: Performance Improvement Project
This course builds upon the principles from the Home Health QAPI - Part 1 course. The focus of Part 2 is to provide guidance and strategies around the final QAPI standard, Performance Improvement Project (PIP). An interdisciplinary PIP team will be selected to brainstorm on potential evidence-based interventions to address the specific problem or improvement area identified from agency data. Testing, spreading, and sustainment of the PIP interventions is critical to the success of the project. In addition to learning key principles and strategies in this course, there will be a demonstration of a PIP team in action.

Home Health 5 Star Ratings
This course will examine the publicly reported Home Health Star Ratings system. There are two different sets of reports that include process, outcome, and patient satisfaction measures. The learner will explore what the ratings mean, data sources, effects on referrals, and how to develop a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) to aim for 5 Star Ratings.
