Scott N. LaRaus
PT, DPT, CWS
Dr. LaRaus is a 1992 graduate of Hunter College's Physical Therapy Program in New York. He obtained his postprofessional Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in May 2008. He started out his career developing and implementing the University of Medicine and Dentistry's inpatient and outpatient wound care center and services. He has worked in a variety of settings, such as the University Medical Center at Princeton, where he is the senior physical therapist and where he co-organized the facility's original SWAT (Skin Wound Action Team) program, which develops and implements hospital-wide wound care protocol. He was the first physical therapist to be a program director for the Center for Wound Healing, where he developed and ran a successful outpatient wound management program. Currently, he is the director of inpatient rehabilitation services at the Memorial Hospital of Salem County for FOX Rehabilitation. Dr. LaRaus is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association's Acute Care section, where he served on the editorial advisory board of Acute Care Perspectives from 1997 to 2017. Dr. LaRaus also served on the peer-review panel for Advances in Skin & Wound Care, and he has written and produced with Slack Incorporated an interactive wound care CD-ROM for health professionals (June 2003).
Dr. LaRaus has been a certified wound specialist with the American Board of Wound Management since June 1998. He has been an active member of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care since 2000, where he has served on the Government and Regulatory Affairs Task Force, worked on the award-winning venous ulcer algorithm, and is the current cochair for the regulatory group. He serves as a member of the nominating committee and was the physical therapy board member from 2014 to 2017 for the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care.
Dr. LaRaus is an active lecturer in the field and has presented at various universities as well as nationally to healthcare professionals and allied healthcare professionals in the field of wound care management.
