This course provides an orientation to the chain of infection, how to prevent and control infection with standard and transmission-based precautions, and the types of adjunctive controls used in your workplace to minimize the spread of communicable diseases. These components are the basics of infection prevention and control (IPC) that are needed in all healthcare settings to protect everyone's safety. Antibiotic stewardship programs are also highlighted as an essential part of ongoing IPC in healthcare facilities.

Course Objectives
1. Provide an orientation to infection control for all healthcare settings
2. Overview the chain of infection, including modes of transmission used by certain pathogens
3. Detail standard precautions and address when and how to employ transmission-based precautions
4. Discuss adjunctive workplace controls designed to break the chain of infection
5. Address the benefits and parts of an antibiotic stewardship program

This course has been certified by ACHC, and verified by Community Health Accreditation Partner (CHAP). It provides training to help organizations in all settings comply with the OSH Act of 1970 and the following federal regulations related to hospice, home health, long-term care, and hospital services:
