Responding sensitively to residents who have experienced trauma includes individualizing care to help them avoid triggers and developing cultural competence.

In this course, you will learn about different kinds of trauma, the principles of trauma-informed care and key elements in providing it. You will also learn about mental health disorders, other than dementia, and psychosocial issues that residents may have as well as general, non-pharmacological ways to support them in reaching optimum emotional, social, mental and physical well-being.

This course helps meet the regulatory standards outlined in the requirements for long-term care facilities CFR 483.21 (b)(3), CFR 483.25 (m) and CFR 483.40 (a)( b).
