Patients receiving care in their home have rights that home health organizations and care staff are to recognize and support.

This course will discuss those rights and what healthcare personnel need to do to inform patients of those rights, to protect those rights, and to encourage patients to fully exercise them. These actions include conveying charges, informing patients of grievance and complaint processes and responding to grievances, sharing the organization's policy on implementing advance directives, providing patients with contact information for relevant community agencies, and reporting any suspected abuse or neglect.

Objectives:
1) Delineate patient rights in home health
2) Promote understanding of the healthcare personnel’s responsibility to inform, promote, and uphold patient rights
3) Provide information on how to make complaints and receive support with regards to patient rights
