Description

Session 2 of the Cohort Learning Series expands on vestibular evaluation and rehabilitative treatment concepts introduced in the on-demand coursework. The focus is on five supplemental vestibular special tests not covered in the course modules, including hum testing, auditory recruitment testing, nasal and glottal Valsalva testing, the head-shaking tilt suppression test, and the vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) cancellation test. Audience-submitted questions related to vestibular examination and treatment will also be addressed. Content is designed to strengthen clinician competency and support confident, effective direct patient care.

Prior to this session, please complete the following three courses:

Vestibular Examination: Oculomotor Testing.

Vestibular Examination: Postural Control Testing.

Vestibular Compensation Exercises and Clinical Resources.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze hum test findings to assess for hearing loss in individuals with dizziness
  • Apply auditory recruitment testing with use of a tuning fork when assessing hearing impairment in individuals with dizziness
  • Examine head-shaking tilt suppression test findings in individuals with dizziness
  • Distinguish vestibulo-ocular reflex cancellation test findings in individuals with dizziness
  • Determine the clinical significance of nasal and glottal Valsalva test findings in individuals whose pressure-induced dizziness impacts their daily activities.
