1. Pain Neuroscience Education for Persistent Pain
This chapter will provide an overview of the evolution of and evidence for pain neuroscience education for the treatment of persistent pain. Clinicians will be introduced to the concept of focusing on function versus hyperfixating on pain.
2. Pain Neuroscience Education for Acute and Subacute Pain
This chapter will provide an overview of programs for pain neuroscience education for acute and subacute pain across a variety of settings. Clinicians will hear real-world examples of how pain neuroscience education may be implemented in a variety of settings to optimize outcomes for patients experiencing acute and subacute pain.
3. Clinical Implementation of Pain Neuroscience Education
This chapter will provide details on multiple clinical aspects of providing pain neuroscience education. These will include impacts on documentation and billing, and options for group education and building a pain team as well as answering practical questions such as how to walk clients through behavioral changes and who needs pain education.
4. Clinician Perspective: PNE in the Clinic
This chapter will provide practical clinical applications for pain neuroscience education. Students will learn how to describe the value of PNE to fellow clinicians, other medical providers, and payers.
