Regardless of the practice setting, PTs, OTs, and SLPs are likely to encounter individuals experiencing behavioral health concerns. Behavioral health concerns impact all people, yet social and structural determinants of health result in increased likelihood and severity of behavioral health concerns in certain marginalized populations.
This course will provide an introductory knowledge of behavioral health concerns, the effect of social and structural determinants of health on behavioral health, and practical applications for behavioral health interventions across treatment settings. Specific populations addressed include at-risk youth, high-violence communities, individuals experiencing homelessness, and those experiencing substance use/abuse. Last Reviewed: April 2023
