Rehabilitation providers often have difficulty implementing evidence in patient care. Patients, clients, coaches, or referral sources depend on rehabilitation providers to address tough questions regarding patient outcomes, but all providers may not be up-to-date with the current recommendations based on the literature. The goal of this course is to provide real-world application of the research in clinical practice by addressing common questions that rehabilitation professionals may have in a variety of areas.
This course will address common evidence-based practice questions to better prepare athletic trainers and other providers to educate their patients and design optimal rehabilitation programs to improve outcomes. The questions addressed in this course include
1) Does graft type influence your rehabilitation process after ACL reconstruction?
2) What factors influence the decision-making process of whether patients with a lumbar spondylolisthesis should be braced?
3) Are group-based arm care programs effective at reducing injury incidence?

Chapters & learning objectives
1. What Factors Influence Bracing Decisions in Athletes With Lumbar Spondylolisthesis?
It is crucial that the clinician accurately identify flexion vs. extension pain in athletes with lower back pain (LBP). Clinicians also must understand the diagnostic findings of the specific lesion, as this directly relates to return-to-play planning. Additionally, common movement impairments, often not identified in routine LBP care, can be identified and addressed through a movement-based regional interdependence approach.
2. Are Group-Based Arm Care Programs Effective at Reducing Injury Incidence?
Arm care exercise programs have evolved to include both strengthening and mobility throughout the entire kinetic chain. In this chapter, the learner will become familiar with the arm care programs that have been shown to reduce injury incidence, including specific exercises and dosage.
3. ACL Graft Selection and Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation providers are frequently involved in assisting patients with the decision of whether to reconstruct the ACL or not. Applying the research to patient scenarios will assist the patient and rehabilitation provider in making the best decision.
4. Question and Answer Session
