1. Introduction to Care and Management of a Urinary Device
In this chapter, we will introduce the agenda and learning objectives for this course and present an example of a scenario you may encounter in your work with patients.
2. What Are Urinary Catheters?
This chapter will review types of urinary devices that the aide may encounter during the course of caring for a patient, review of terms associated with the urinary system, and potential complications of urinary devices.
3. Care of a Urinary Device
Care of the urinary device plays a big role in prevention of complications, specifically infection. This area will review/demonstrate how to clean and care for the urinary device and collection bag.
4. Documentation and Next Steps
Documentation plays a necessary role in home care. This chapter will review indications to notify the supervisor and how to document this interaction in the patients record.
