HIPAA: Patient Privacy and Information Security in Home Health and Hospice

This course offers a deep dive into HIPAA for home health and hospice workers. During this course, we'll review the laws and regulations that protect patient information, how those apply to information security, how to mitigate the risk of a security breach, and what to do if you experience a security breach.

Objectives:
1) Review laws and regulations related to patient privacy, specifically HIPAA
2) Define protected health information (PHI) and discuss its appropriate use and methods for protecting it in home health and hospice
3) Outline what to do in the event of a security breach

This course has certified by ACHC, and verified to align with the CHAP Hospice Standards of Excellence HSIM 5.I in Hospice Information Management, and the CHAP Home Health Standards of Excellence IM.4.I in Information Management Standards.
