Meal Planning and Grocery Shopping

Presented by Medbridge Team

Meal Planning and Grocery Shopping
This course prepares personal care aides to support clients with meal preparation and grocery shopping in the home. Aides will learn to plan nutritious meals using the client’s care plan and dietary guidelines, including how to navigate common special diets such as low-sodium, consistent-carbohydrate, and texture-modified plans. The course also covers smart grocery shopping practices, food safety protocols, and safe storage techniques that protect clients who may be at higher risk for foodborne illness. Aides will also explore how to honor each client’s cultural and personal food preferences within the bounds of the care plan, and learn what mealtime concerns to observe and report to the supervising nurse. Interactive scenario-based activities follow a personal care aide through a real-world client visit, offering opportunities to apply planning, shopping, and communication skills in context.
