Christopher Gaskins
PhD, OTR/L, CSRS
Dr. Christopher Gaskins has over 13 years of experience working as an occupational therapist
(OT). While working at Walter Reed, he developed a deep interest in understanding how the brain
processes cognitive- motor demands. In 2017, he enrolled in the Neuroscience and Cognitive
Science PhD program at the University of Maryland- College Park. On Nov.29th, 2023, he
successfully defended his dissertation, titled “Mental Workload Assessment During Upper Limb
Prosthetic Training and Task Performance.”
Christopher embodies a professional balance consisting of work as a consultant, clinician, scientist
and educator. A former healthcare consultant at one of the largest federal consultant firms in the
world, he is working full-time as the CEO, chief scientist and lead OT of Neurosuite, a concierge
neurorehabilitation company. He is also the research coordinator of the post-professional
occupational therapy doctoral program at his beloved alma mater, Howard University.
Dr. Gaskins earned his B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of South Carolina in 2007, his
M.S. in Occupational Therapy from Howard University in 2010 and his PhD in Neuroscience and
Cognitive Science from the University of Maryland. He has guest lectured at Kean University, the
University of North Carolina-Pembroke, and Boston University and holds adjunct positions at Bowie
State University, Nova Southeastern University and Eastern Virginia Community College.
Dr. Gaskins has been featured on Saebo’s “No Plateau” podcast, the “The Slow Road to Better”
podcast and the “OT Potential” podcast. His company Neurosuite is the recipient of the PayPal and
Facebook Grants for Small Black Businesses. He is a recipient of the OT Standing for Research
Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (STRIDE) grant. He is a proud husband and “girl dad.” He enjoys
biking, cooking, learning to code, listening to music, and spending time outdoors.
