Jean-Michel Brismée, PT, ScD, OCS, FAAOMPT, is a professor in the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Doctor of Science (ScD) programs in physical therapy at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) in Lubbock, Texas. Dr. Brismée teaches at TTUHSC in the areas of kinesiology and orthopedics and is involved in clinical research in orthopedics, manual therapy, and movement sciences. He has instructed more than 200 courses and conferences nationally and internationally in advanced orthopedic medicine and manual therapy of the spine and extremities.

In addition, he has authored more than 120 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and was coinvestigator in research projects funded for more than half a million dollars. He is an author of two books and a series of 12 DVDs on the differential diagnosis and management of orthopedic conditions. He has developed a line of research investigating ways for clinicians to rehydrate the intervertebral disc using movements and positions. He is the director of the Fellowship Program in Differential Diagnostics and Orthopaedic Manual Therapy of the International Academy of Orthopaedic Medicine, is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy, and maintains clinical practice in outpatient orthopedics at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.
