Patti DeJuilio

MS, RRT-ACCS, RRT-NPS

Patti DeJuilio is clinical director of respiratory care services, sleep medicine, and neurodiagnostics at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. She has 37 years of experience in respiratory care, including 20 years at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, and 17 years at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital, where she has been involved in projects and clinical work in all patient care areas. She has developed and implemented several protocols, including ventilator-associated pneumonia prevention in the NICU, in the PICU, and in three adult ICUs.

Patti served as a mentor for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) on the subject of ventilator-associated pneumonia. She has also worked on age-specific respiratory assessment protocols, an oxygen titration protocol, and a ventilator weaning protocol that includes mobility.

Patti has published and presented her work on ventilator-acquired pneumonia reduction, ventilator weaning with early mobility, use of an open-design oxygen mask, and implementing point-of-care blood gas testing. She has also presented her work on several topics, including multidisciplinary team collaboration, improving patient outcomes, and, most recently, nosocomial infection occurrence in COVID-19 patients.
