However, many of the fad diets that encourage elimination without justification may have short- and long-term health consequences. Nutrition recommendations for losing weight must also preserve lean mass, decrease fat mass, and optimize health. To resonate and educate, strategies must be sustainable, inclusive, realistic, and affordable.
