This chapter will cover the creativity and flexibility of polyester cast tape. It will teach the pros and cons of choosing a polyester cast tape for your patient. It describes the benefits of the products as well as the easy removal process.
2. Differential Diagnosis: Who Should Be Casted With This Technique?
This chapter discusses the endless uses of polyester cast tape. It will describe pediatric diagnoses that may benefit from this casting technique. We will discuss how the cast can be used, as well as how it can be made into a variety of removable orthoses.
3. Step-by-Step Guide for Using Polyester Cast Tape
This chapter will discuss the importance of discussing casting with your pediatric patient using child-friendly language and tips for a successful casting session. You will learn the step-by-step process of casting for a forearm wrist orthosis and hand-based thumb spica, as well as watch a video demonstration of a lower extremity night splint fabrication. You will also see a few creative tips for using this casting technique.
4. Demonstration: Polyester Cast Tape
This chapter takes you through a live demonstration of the application of a polyester cast for an upper extremity. You will see the step-by-step process from beginning to end, including how to safely remove the cast and how to make the cast into a removable orthosis.
