- Comprehend how to provide family-centered care during the pronouncement of death (where “family” means anyone the parent(s) or legal representative of the child identifies as family)
- Recognize that state regulations vary regarding permission and process for the pronouncement of death
- Clarify how culturally and family-sensitive care can be provided while performing the appropriate assessments for the pronouncement of death
- Identify how aftercare of the body may be done while respecting the wishes of the family
- Provide best practice education to family/caregivers during and following the determination and pronouncement of death for a hospice patient
- Demonstrate clinical decision-making related to the determination and pronouncement of death for a hospice patient
