In this course, the learner will gain a more in-depth understanding of how to treat the typically developing child with bowel and bladder dysfunction. The course will touch on concepts of appropriate patient education, evaluation and treatment, and selection of outcome measures to treat this population. The participant will learn evaluation techniques unique to this population of pelvic floor patients. Exercise, modalities, and manual therapy techniques will be discussed for treatment. Several videos will demonstrate techniques that the learner will be able to immediately implement within the clinical setting. This course is appropriate for anyone who may be looking to add this population into their clinical practice or wants to be able to provide education to parents on common pediatric bowel and bladder issues. It includes both informational lectures and videos.
This course is appropriate for PTs, OTs, and RNs treating children in an acute or outpatient environment.

This chapter will cover educational strategies for working with both children and their parents on the explanation of common bowel and bladder dysfunction. A short video on education strategies is included.
2. Evaluation of Children With Pelvic Floor Disorders
This chapter covers appropriate evaluation techniques for the child with pelvic floor dysfunction. Outcome measures and appropriate assessment techniques will be explored.
3. Treatment of the Child With Bowel and Bladder Dysfunction
In this chapter, several treatment techniques for common bowel and bladder dysfunction in the typically developing child will be discussed and demonstrated. An emphasis on exercise and posture will be explored to help improve function in these children.
