Antonietta Mastrota
M.S., CCC-SLP, BCS-S, NTMTC
Antonietta (Toni) Mastrota, MS, CCC-SLP, is a rehabilitation operations supervisor and speech-
language pathologist at AdventHealth with specialized clinical expertise in cardiac intensive care,
post-cardiothoracic surgery dysphagia management, neonatal intensive care, and pediatric intensive
care. She has extensive experience working with medically complex adults and infants, providing
advanced assessment and treatment of swallowing and communication disorders in high-acuity
hospital settings.
Toni's clinical interests include dysphagia management across the lifespan, early identification of
swallowing disorders following cardiac surgery, caregiver education on feeding readiness in the
NICU, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to support safe, evidence-based patient care. She
played a key role in developing and implementing the Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of
Swallowing (FEES) program within her hospital system and is passionate about advancing access to
instrumental swallowing assessment and patient-centered dysphagia care.
Committed to education and professional development, Toni regularly mentors clinical fellows and
emerging clinicians and has delivered lectures to graduate-level speech-language pathology
students. She recently presented a national webinar in partnership with the National Foundation of
Swallowing Disorders (NFOSD) and serves as a facilitator for monthly NFOSD support groups for
individuals living with dysphagia and their caregivers. Through her clinical practice, leadership,
education, and advocacy efforts, she is dedicated to improving outcomes and quality of life for
individuals with swallowing disorders.
Toni most recently presented her research at the Dysphagia Research Society's Annual Meeting and
holds a specialized certification in Neonatal Touch and Massage. Outside of work, she enjoys
spending time with her husband, Josh, and their dog, Basil. Their shared love of cooking and
gathering around meals continues to reinforce her appreciation for the role food and swallowing
play in connection, culture, and quality of life—a passion that inspires her work with individuals
affected by dysphagia.
