1. Autism vs. Asperger’s Syndrome
This chapter explores the historical and clinical impact of eliminating Asperger’s syndrome as a distinct diagnosis in the DSM-5. Learners will examine how the shift affected identity, diagnostic clarity, and service eligibility and will consider how language, cognition, and behavioral profiles previously attributed to Asperger’s now intersect with broader ASD criteria.
2. ASD vs. Other Developmental Disorders
This chapter addresses the clinical difficulties in distinguishing autism spectrum disorder from other developmental disabilities, particularly when co-occurring impairments are present.
