JL Parker
PhD, CCC-SLP
Dr. J. L. Parker, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is a highly accomplished Speech-Language Pathologist and educator with an extensive background in clinical practice and academic instruction. She earned her Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences from Western Michigan University and holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University. Throughout her career, Dr. Parker has served as an Assistant Professor and Clinical Instructor, teaching a diverse array of courses including Statistical Analysis, Neurodiversity/AAC, Voice Disorders, and Language Disorder Intervention. Her academic contributions are complemented by her role in clinical supervision, where she has mentored dozens of graduate and undergraduate students in diagnosing and treating complex communication and swallowing disorders.
In addition to her work in academia, Dr. Parker possesses robust clinical expertise across acute care, rehabilitation, and educational settings. She has held leadership roles such as the Director of Speech Therapy at the New Mexico Rehabilitation Center and has specialized experience in treating Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Aphasia, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Dr. Parker is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist and holds certifications in Vital Stim and the McNeil Dysphagia Therapy Program. Her commitment to the field is further evidenced by her active licensure in multiple states and her continuous engagement in advanced professional development, including regular attendance at ASHA National Conventions and specialized training in behavioral intervention and literacy.
