Leading Patient-Reported Outcomes Software Vendors

Compare leading patient-reported outcomes vendors, their documented capabilities, integrations, reporting features, and areas of focus.

Patient-reported outcomes vendors all promise the same broad capability—collecting patient-reported data and turning it into something an organization can report, benchmark, and act on. For an operations leader weighing a Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) submission deadline, the differences between vendors matter more than the pitch decks suggest.

Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) provide healthcare organizations with direct information from patients about symptoms, function, health status, quality of life, and treatment progress. Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) provide the standardized questionnaires used to collect that information, while PRO software helps organizations distribute those measures, collect responses, calculate scores, analyze results, and incorporate the data into clinical or reporting workflows.

As the use of PROs expands in clinical care, quality programs, research, and value-based payment models, healthcare organizations have a growing selection of technology vendors to consider. The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), for example, maintains a PROMs Vendor Program for technology companies that meet criteria related to collecting and submitting PRO data.¹

There is no widely accepted public dataset that establishes U.S. patient-reported outcomes software market share by vendor. For that reason, the companies below are not ranked by market share or presented from best to worst. Instead, this overview looks at vendors with documented PRO capabilities, participation in industry programs, publicly reported adoption, or a specific focus on outcomes collection.

The patient-reported outcomes software market

PRO technology varies considerably by vendor. Some companies operate primarily as dedicated outcomes platforms, and others incorporate PRO collection into patient engagement, orthopedic care, clinical research, digital care, or broader healthcare data platforms.

AAOS provides one useful view of the market. Its current PROMs Vendor Program identifies companies based on criteria that include their ability to collect and submit PRO data and their history of submitting data to AAOS Registries. AAOS states that the program does not include every PRO data vendor and that inclusion should not be interpreted as an AAOS endorsement.¹

As of 2026, the program lists more than 20 participating vendors, presented as a single list rather than a ranking or scored tier. Participants include CODE Technology, Force Therapeutics, HOPCo, MedTrak CareSense, MiCare Path, OBERD, OM1, Ortech Systems, OutcomeMD, PatientIQ, and Twistle by Health Catalyst, among others.¹

Because AAOS is an orthopaedic association, its list leans toward vendors built for surgical and musculoskeletal outcomes, which is worth keeping in mind when weighing them against platforms designed for other care settings.

The range of companies illustrates how PRO collection can be a standalone service or part of a larger clinical technology platform.

PatientIQ

PatientIQ offers a healthcare technology platform designed specifically around the collection and analysis of patient outcomes data. Its product portfolio includes ClinicalPRO for clinical outcomes programs, ResearchPRO for clinical studies and registries, and DataPRO for outcomes benchmarking.²

The platform provides automated patient data collection, reminders, web-based patient access, analytics, and white-labeled patient engagement, and PatientIQ states that its platform integrates with major electronic health record (EHR) systems and supports data exchange between the PRO platform and an organization's existing clinical systems.²˒³

PatientIQ is one of the vendors listed in the AAOS PROMs Vendor Program.¹

Documented focus: Dedicated PRO collection, analytics, benchmarking, research, registries, and EHR integration.

CODE Technology

CODE Technology operates somewhat differently from a traditional software-only PRO vendor. The company describes its offering as a fully managed patient-reported outcomes service, in which CODE handles patient identification, outreach, data collection, validation, reporting, and submission.⁴

Its patient outreach options include email, text, telephone, smartphones, tablets, and QR codes. CODE also provides EHR integration, benchmarking, dashboards, and reporting formats designed for programs such as CMS PRO-PM, MIPS, and AAOS Registry reporting.⁴˒⁵

CODE reports serving more than 700 healthcare organizations. Because this number is published by the company itself, it should be viewed as a company-reported measure of adoption rather than an independently calculated market-share figure.⁴

CODE is also a participant in the AAOS PROMs Vendor Program.¹

Documented focus: Managed PRO collection, patient outreach, regulatory reporting, benchmarking, and orthopedic outcomes programs.

Force Therapeutics

Force Therapeutics provides a digital care management and patient engagement platform focused heavily on musculoskeletal and orthopedic care.

Patient-reported outcome collection is built into its broader patient experience rather than offered solely as a standalone survey product. Published information from Force describes digital delivery of validated PROMs through text or email, and collection of measures such as HOOS Jr., KOOS Jr., VR-12, and PROMIS Global.⁶

Research published on Force's website in 2025 examined the use of its digital MSK platform to collect preoperative and postoperative PROMs for patients undergoing total knee and total hip arthroplasty in connection with CMS reporting requirements.⁶

Force Therapeutics is also a participant in the AAOS PROMs Vendor Program.¹

Documented focus: Orthopedic and MSK care management, patient engagement, digital recovery programs, and PROM collection.

OBERD

OBERD, short for Outcomes-Based Electronic Research Database, describes its product as a patient intelligence platform combining patient-reported outcomes with clinical and surgical information.⁷

The platform includes PRO collection, reporting, EHR integration, clinical documentation, research data collection, CMS reporting, and patient education. OBERD reports more than 5 million patients and over one billion data points collected on its platform. These are company-reported figures rather than independently verified market-share estimates.⁷

OutcomeMD

OutcomeMD provides automated patient-reported outcomes collection for healthcare organizations and describes its platform as being built around its Patient Experience Data Network. The technology collects patient responses before, during, and after treatment, and provides clinicians with longitudinal PRO data.⁸

OutcomeMD also provides EHR integration. According to the company, PROM data can be incorporated into the patient's existing electronic record alongside clinical information such as laboratory results, imaging, and provider documentation.⁹

The company also offers its standardized, de-identified PRO dataset for research and life sciences applications.¹¹

Documented focus: Automated PRO collection, longitudinal outcomes tracking, EHR integration, benchmarking data, and research applications.

OM1

OM1 operates more broadly in healthcare data, real-world evidence, clinical registries, and outcomes analytics.

Its platform combines electronic medical record data, claims, laboratory results, clinical notes, patient-reported outcomes, and other healthcare data. The company reports that its Real-World Data Cloud covers more than 350 million patients.¹⁰ This is a company-reported data footprint, and it is not equivalent to the number of healthcare organizations using OM1 specifically for PRO collection.

OM1 also supports clinical registries and outcomes research and has developed technology to estimate certain clinical and patient-reported outcomes from existing clinical information.¹⁰

OM1 is a participant in the AAOS PROMs Vendor Program.¹

Documented focus: Real-world evidence, registries, outcomes analytics, healthcare data, and research.

Medbridge

Medbridge builds patient-reported outcomes collection directly into the clinical workflows that a rehab team already runs, rather than selling it as a separate system to manage on the side. Its Care platform connects PRO collection with home exercise programs, guided Pathways, and Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM), so the outcomes data comes from the same workflow that delivers the care, not a parallel survey process running next to it.¹²

The outcomes library covers PROMIS measures, legacy instruments, patient satisfaction scores like NPS, and condition-specific tools, including LLISv2 (lymphedema), ABC Scale (Falls) and JFLS-8 (Jaw), KOOS Jr., HOOS Jr., PCSS, and PFDI-20, and organizations can configure which measures to collect and on what schedule.¹² This feeds organizational analytics and can be compared to Medbridge’s risk-adjustment and benchmarking data, so an operations leader can see which clinics or clinicians are driving results and where performance is falling behind.¹²

Documentation writes back to the electronic medical record (EMR) in one step, with deeper integration for Epic customers. Through its partnership with Patient360, a CMS-approved Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR), Medbridge supports QCDR submission for MIPS reporting.¹²˒¹³ That support covers submission, not strategy. Medbridge is not a MIPS consulting service, and organizations keep ownership of their reporting strategy.

Medbridge does not currently appear on the AAOS PROMs Vendor Program list, unlike several of the vendors above. That reflects a different bet than a standalone registry-submission product built primarily for orthopedic surgical volume. PROs at Medbridge are one part of a connected care platform, built alongside HEP, Pathways, and RTM, so the same data that satisfies a MIPS submission also feeds the day-to-day care an organization is already delivering.

How patient-reported outcomes vendors differ

Although these platforms all work with patient outcomes data, they do not necessarily compete for the same use case.

Dedicated platforms such as PatientIQ are built primarily around PRO collection, analysis, research, and benchmarking. CODE uses a managed-services model in which much of the operational work of collecting and submitting PRO data is handled by the vendor. Force Therapeutics combines outcomes collection with digital orthopedic care management, while OBERD combines PROs with broader clinical, surgical, research, and patient data.

Companies such as OM1 extend further into real-world evidence and data science. Medbridge integrates PROs into a broader digital patient-care workflow that includes exercises, education, remote monitoring, and care pathways.

These differences mean that an organization's evaluation of patient-reported outcomes software may depend less on which vendor is "largest" and more on how the technology will be used.

The factors worth comparing directly are more concrete: which PROMs and specialties a platform supports, how it handles survey delivery and EHR integration, the depth of its analytics and benchmarking, its registry and CMS/MIPS reporting, and whether it runs as a managed service or as software the team operates itself.

The limits of PRO vendor market-share claims

Publicly available information does not support assigning a reliable percentage of the U.S. PRO software market to individual vendors.

Vendor-reported customer totals, patient counts, survey volumes, or other data points can indicate a company's scale, but these measures are not directly comparable. One vendor may report healthcare organizations, another may count patients, and another may describe the size of a research database.

Independent programs can provide another point of comparison. AAOS, for example, evaluates PROM technology companies against established criteria and distinguishes vendors that currently submit data to its registries, though AAOS explicitly states that its program is not exhaustive and does not constitute an endorsement.¹

For organizations evaluating vendors, documented capabilities and alignment with a specific clinical, reporting, research, or operational need provide a more reliable basis for comparison than unsupported market-share rankings.

Patient-reported outcomes are increasingly becoming part of broader care and reporting workflows rather than functioning as isolated surveys, so organizations considering a platform can assess both how PRO data is collected and what happens to that information after collection. Medbridge, for example, combines patient-reported outcomes software with digital care programs, home exercise programs, patient education, analytics, and remote monitoring in a connected patient-care platform.¹²
