The APTA’s clinical practice guideline on physical therapy management of total knee arthroplasty is often missed by physical therapists in the orthopedic setting. This course disseminates the most important and applicable information from this CPG, including examination, pre- and postoperative treatment, prognosis, and discharge planning. This course will also teach how to interpret and apply this CPG’s different recommendation structure. This course is designed to assist physical therapists pursuing the ABPTS specialty but is very applicable for any physical therapist who encounters patients who have or will undergo total knee arthroplasty.
Learning Objectives
- Prioritize the most important and effective interventions for treatment patients who have undergone total knee arthroplasty
- Implement preoperative education and exercise interventions for patients who will undergo total knee arthroplasty
