This short course is designed to help healthcare workers recognize, prevent, and respond to workplace violence. The featured scenarios highlight recommended de-escalation and nonphysical intervention strategies to prevent or diffuse violence, and learners have the opportunity to select from scenarios most applicable to their practice setting. The course also emphasizes the individual and organizational responsibilities and teamwork essential to the pursuit of a workplace free from violence.

Course Objectives
1. Define and provide examples of workplace violence
2. Learn and practice how to respond during an incident of workplace violence, focusing on de-escalation strategies and nonphysical intervention skills
3. Delineate individual and organizational roles and responsibilities regarding workplace violence
4. Promote a culture of safety in which employees feel empowered to report workplace violence

This course has been certified by ACHC, and it was designed in alignment with the Joint Commission's Workplace Violence Prevention Standards for hospitals. It provides training to help organizations in ALL settings comply with the OSH Act of 1970:
