1. Mechanisms of Bone Healing
Understanding how active therapy can be one of the most effective ways to modulate pain for patients helps justify the use of therapeutic exercise in the early stage of injury. Helping patients deal with pain through exercise can help alleviate the need for opioids or other forms of prescription medications.
2. Wolff’s Law and Creating Mechanical Strain
This chapter will demonstrate how active therapy can be one of the most effective ways to help bone healing and can justify the use of therapeutic exercise in the early stage of injury. Wolff’s law, describing how stressing bone creates an environment of stronger bone, will be discussed. Learning how to use BFRT to lightly stress bone to help the healing process will be presented.
3. Case Study for Osteoporosis
In Chapter 3, a case study and demonstration for treating osteoporosis is presented.
