This brief course covers how to protect your older adult clients from abuse and exploitation, including when and how to report as a mandatory reporter. It is designed to be a refresher course for annual retraining, or for experienced staff. Financial abuse/fraud in the elderly is highlighted in a scenario based on a real-life scam, and cybersecurity recommendations are detailed. The course also overviews other types of abuse and neglect, tips for spotting abuse, and risk factors that make older adults particularly vulnerable.

This course provides training that helps organizations meet requirements on the prevention and reporting of elder abuse, including the following federal regulations related to home health, long-term care, and hospice services: ? 42 CFR 484.50(c)(2), ? 42 CFR 484.50(e)(2), ? 42 CFR 483.12(b)(1), ? 42 CFR 418.52(c)(6). It also helps meet state mandatory reporting laws for abuse or neglect of adults who are elderly or vulnerable.
