This course will expose the learner to the team approach model for providing intervention to the neonate in the NICU. The course will also provide the therapist with the skills to identify intervention readiness, sequencing of intervention techniques, and specific therapeutic intervention strategies, such as positioning, range of motion, neonate massage, skin-to-skin, and an oral-motor, cue-based feeding program.

1. Components of Therapeutic Intervention In the NICU?
This chapter will provide the therapist with the skills to identify intervention readiness, sequencing of intervention techniques, and specific therapeutic intervention strategies to incorporate the patient- and family-centered care model.
2. Positioning the NICU Neonate
This chapter will teach the learner to identify specific therapeutic intervention principles to ready the neonate for handling and positioning.
3. Neonate Range of Motion and Massage with the NICU Neonate
This chapter will expose the learner to specific therapeutic intervention strategies for positioning and range of motion.
4. Sensory Processing and Kangaroo Care with the NICU Neonate
This chapter will expose the learner to specific therapeutic intervention strategies related to the sensory processing of the neonate and implementation of a Kangaroo Care program.
5. Feeding the NICU Neonate
This chapter will introduce the learner to feeding intervention principles, feeding programs and equipment, and an oral-motor, cue-based feeding program.
