Gail J. Richard, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
Gail J Richard, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, worked in the public schools in Iowa for four years before joining the faculty at Eastern Illinois University, where she has been for 35 years. She was Chair of the Department of Communication Disorders & Sciences for 14 of those years, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, and supervising in the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic. She is currently a professor emeritus and Director of the Autism Center and Students with Autism Transitional Education Program (STEP) at Eastern Illinois University.
Kathleen Whitmire, PhD, CCC-SLP (Retired), BCS-CL (Retired), ASHA Fellow
Dr. Whitmire is President of SDG Enterprise, an education consulting firm. She previously served as Director of Educational Programs and Director of the RTI Action Network for the National Center for Learning Disabilities, responsible for school reform initiatives with a global reach to millions of students and educators. In addition, she served as Director of School Services in Speech-Language Pathology for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), leading programs for over 50,000 speech-language pathologists working in the schools.
Betty Yu, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
Betty Yu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education & Communicative Disorders. Before joining the faculty at San Francisco State, she practiced as a speech-language therapist primarily serving young children and their families in minority communities. Her research interest is in how children's language development interfaces with the development of sociocultural competence.
Sylvia Diehl, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
Sylvia F. Diehl, Ph.D., CCC-SLP is recently retired from the University of South Florida (USF) Department of Communication Sciences in Tampa, Florida, where she taught courses in autism, pediatric language and augmentative and alternative communication and was the team leader in the language/phonology clinic. She was also a member of the USF, Interdisciplinary Center for Evaluation and Intervention Team, which offers guidance to Florida Public School Systems regarding children with complex needs. She is the founder of the USF Friends’ Group at USF, which provides social communication intervention along with parent training to children with autism spectrum disorders.
Shari Robertson, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
Shari Robertson, Ph.D. CCC-SLP, is a Professor of Speech Language Pathology and Dean’s Associate for Graduate Studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Robertson spent 18 years as a school-based SLP and special education administrator prior to obtaining her Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She recently served on the ASHA Board of Directors as Vice President of Academic Affairs in Speech-Language Pathology and owns several companies, including a publishing and a consulting business.
Anne van Kleeck, PhD, CCC-SLP
Anne van Kleeck, PhD, CCC-SLP, is a Professor and Callier Research Scholar at the Callier Center for Communication Disorders in the School of Behavioral and Brain Science at the University of Texas in Dallas. She has taught courses and guided student research on children’s language development and language impairments for several decades. Anne’s research focuses on language and emerging literacy skills in children who are language impaired as well as children who are at risk academically.
