He is currently pursuing a PhD in Clinical and Translational Science with a focus on the use of PT's as "First Contact Practitioners" for patients seeking care for musculoskeletal disorders. Of particular interest is the use of physical therapists in the emergency department and urgent care settings.
Chris has spoken at national and international conferences about the treatment of low back pain and the impact it has on the US Public Health system. He's consulted with tech companies, done webinars for Intel and assisted in the integration of the Treatment Based Classification for wellness apps. Chris is one of the current thought leaders seeking to change the paradigm from which clinicians treat low back pain.
Chris claims native status in New Hampshire but has lived in Pittsburgh for 18 years. His wife and children tolerate his late night hockey, poor guitar playing, and constant outdoor activity.

Presented by Christopher Bise, PT, MS, DPT, OCS
Hip Osteoarthritis
The hip is the third most prevalent site of Osteoarthritis (OA), behind only the hand and the knee. As hip OA is a regular diagnosis in orthopedic practice, an understanding of the current body of evidence is critical in the ability to apply effective interventions. This course will provide a brief overview of hip OA, review the current literature and propose interventions based on recent findings.
An Introduction to Osteoarthritis
Presented by Christopher Bise, PT, MS, DPT, OCS
An Introduction to Osteoarthritis
As the longevity and the activity level of our aging population increases, Osteoarthritis and its effects have the potential to become a significant public health issue. 51.8 million adults report they have some form of arthritis. 14% of people over the age of 75 report significant limitations due to their arthritis. This course will provide an overview of OA as a public health issue, provide a definition of OA, and review the current literature in regards to pain and pain generation. Finally, we will identify current evidence regarding the conservative care of OA and propose specific, evidence based interventions for treatment.
Upper Extremity Osteoarthritis
Presented by Christopher Bise, PT, MS, DPT, OCS
Upper Extremity Osteoarthritis
There is a significant body of literature describing the treatment of hip and knee Osteoarthritis (OA). Ironically, it is the upper extremity that has the greatest prevalence of OA with 30 - 35% of patients over the age of 60 reporting shoulder OA and 40-45% of patients in the general population reporting symptoms of hand OA. This course will offer a brief overview of OA of the upper extremity, review the current literature, suggest evidence based conservative interventions and finish with a brief overview of upper extremity joint replacement.
