Jeri Lundgren is a registered nurse who has been specializing in post-acute care since 1990. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Ms. Lundgren is board certified as a certified wound care nurse (CWCN) by the WOCN Society, and as a certified wound specialist (CWS) by the American Board of Wound Management. Ms. Lundgren is a certified personal trainer through Florida Gulf Coast University. She is also certified as a functional aging specialist, a certified Delay the Disease Parkinson's exercise program instructor and a certified tai chi instructor. Ms. Lundgren is the president and owner of Senior Providers Resource, LLC. She specializes in wound care, incontinence management, falls reduction, and restorative nursing.

Many clinicians have difficulty identifying and differentiating lower extremity ulcers resulting from arterial insufficiency, venous insufficiency, and peripheral neuropathy/diabetes. If the etiology of the lower extremity ulcer is incorrect, it can lead to improper treatment. This session will help clinicians differentiate arterial insufficient ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, and peripheral neuropathic/diabetic ulcers. We will also discuss treatment strategies for each of these wound categories.

Prevention of Pressure Injuries: Risk Assessment and Care Planning
An in-house-acquired or declining pressure ulcer puts providers at risk for regulatory citations and litigation. The burden on the provider is to demonstrate that the development or decline of a pressure ulcer was unavoidable. An effective care plan is based on identification of the individual risk factors and implementation of interventions that will help mitigate risk of pressure ulcer development. This course will provide a hands-on exercise to teach the participant to create a living, working care plan based on a risk assessment.

Assessment and Documentation of Pressure Injuries
Accurate assessment of a pressure injury is important, as it is the foundation to determine and evaluate the course of treatment. This course will provide you with the information needed to complete a comprehensive assessment of a pressure injury. The National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) pressure injury definitions and staging system will be discussed, as well as wound measurement, wound base description, peri-wound, drainage, odor, tunneling, undermining, and pain assessment. You will also have an opportunity to practice staging, measuring, and describing a pressure injury.

This course will discuss the prevention of pressure injures. While this session is intended for the nursing assistant, it is beneficial for all staff to attend. We will also review F686, the pressure injury regulation for long-term care.

We will also discuss effective utilization of your wound care nurse and skin integrity team.
