Kiki Dickinson

MPT, PAqI

Kathleen (Kiki) Dickinson, MPT, PAqI, has been a pediatric physical therapist since 1995. Kiki works for St. Croix Therapy in Hudson, Wisconsin, and has more than 20 years of experience developing and implementing aquatic therapy programs for a diverse pediatric population, which includes working with children of all ages, with a special focus on the birth-to-three population and medically complex children. Kiki serves as the birth-to-three team lead for her clinic and coordinates services with several counties in Wisconsin. Kiki is certified in Halliwick, Ai Chi, Bad Ragaz, and cranial sacral therapy. Kiki is a pediatric aquaticist and has helped develop several courses for Aquatic Therapy University. She speaks nationally and internationally. Kiki is an adjunct professor for St. Catherine's University and teaches pediatric coursework for their Physical Therapy Assistant Program. She is also the owner of North Star Aquatic Therapy.

A multitude of impairments that are appropriate for aquatic treatment will be reviewed, including poor head and/or trunk control, impaired balance/coordination, weakness, poor endurance, and decreased range of motion. This course will include demonstrations of aquatic therapy treatment techniques that focus on each specific impairment. Treatment techniques will include activities/exercises for a lower motor functioning child to a higher motor functioning child. Participants will gain knowledge of impairments that can be treated through an aquatic medium and how to use specific aquatic techniques to address a variety of neuromotor impairments.

This course will include demonstrations of aquatic therapy treatment techniques that focus on each specific impairment. Participants will gain knowledge of the benefits of aquatic therapy, precautions/contraindications, impairments appropriate to be treated in the aquatic medium, and specific aquatic techniques to address a variety of neuro-motor impairments.
