Sarah Brown
RN, LNHA, BS
Sarah Brown has more than 16 years of experience in health care, providing direct patient care, leadership, education, and consultation in a variety of health care roles in long-term care, transitional care, clinic settings, large health systems, and partnerships. Sarah is the executive director of Empira, a collaborative of four long-term care providers, namely: Presbyterian Homes and Services, Volunteers of America, Elim Care Inc., and Saint Therese. Sarah provides oversight to the Empira team to support innovation, exploration, diffusion, and optimization of applied research that produces clinical and holistic programs and solutions to promote quality of life for older adults.
Sarah has been a part of the Empira team since 2011. She began her career as a nursing assistant during college as she pursued her Health Care Administration degree. Upon graduation, she worked with the Good Samaritan Society as an LNHA. From there, she moved to the Fairview Health System as a clinic manager while obtaining her nursing degree. During her time at Fairview, she moved into a performance improvement consultant role and moonlighted as an urgent care nurse. In 2011, Sarah retuned to senior care services, working for Presbyterian Homes and Services in a variety of clinical roles, including grant director, director of learning and development, and clinical project director.
Sarah is currently enrolled in an MBA program and considers herself to be a lifelong learner. She has presented at state and national conferences. Sarah serves on several state association committees. Her passion has always been in serving those in need and continuous improvement to better outcomes and experiences.

Sleep wake cycles are determined by circadian rhythm, the biological processes that occur in a 24-hour cycle each day. This course provides an in-depth look at circadian rhythm disturbances and strategies to consider across a full 24 hour schedule to promote a culture of restorative sleep in long-term care or inpatient settings.
