1. Challenging Behaviors and Sundowning
Disruptive behaviors often occur in individuals with dementia and can be challenging to caregivers who must work with these individuals. Everyday tasks and activities become progressively more difficult and creative strategies to prevent and manage these behaviors will assist in lessening problematic outburst as well as make caring less stressful.
2. Aggressive Behaviors
Anxious behaviors and physical aggression often occur in older adults with dementia. This chapter will review the common causes of anxiety and aggression, which include loss of impulse control and regression of the mind, and offer strategies to manage the problem.
3. Inappropriate Sexual Behaviors
Older adults with dementia sometimes present with inappropriate sexual aggression that can be disturbing to the family as well as the caregivers. This chapter provides a review of common triggers and strategies to manage sexually inappropriate behaviors, including environmental as well as ethical considerations for identifying and managing triggers of these behaviors.
