There are four primary ligamentous restraints of the knee (MCL, LCL, ACL, PCL) working with the menisci to provide soft tissue constraint. This module is designed to present the other conditions associated with this unique functional unit. The sequence will be related to function, and will move from soft tissues to articular cartilage.

Dr. Terry Malone received his EdD and MSPT from Duke University in North Carolina and his BA from Bluffton College in Ohio. 1. MPF

In this chapter, Dr. Terry Malone discusses the anatomy and management of knee conditions involving the plica. Through a series of patient demonstrations, participants will gain a firsthand glance into these minor knee structures, and will come to understand how different events can alter form and function.

2. Fat Pad Syndrome, Jumper's Knee, Osgood-Schlatter, IT Band

Dr. Terry Malone discusses the Fat Pad Syndrome, Jumper’s Knee, Osgood-Schlatter and IT Band syndrome in this section. Participants will learn about the anatomy and management of these conditions through a series of demonstrations and patient examples.

3. Articular Issues

Articular cartilage possesses many unique qualities that make it beneficial for low friction articulation and load distribution to underlying subchondral bone. What happens when this network is disrupted? Join Dr. Terry Malone as he discusses the various zones of articular cartilage, and the essential components that keep each layer functional.

4. Osteoarthritis

In this chapter, Dr. Terry Malone addresses how articular cartilage issues can lead to the development of osteoarthritis in many individuals. Participants will learn the fundamentals of osteoarthritis anatomically, as well as intervention methods that are currently implemented to bring patients and athletes, back to pre-injury ability.
