1. Overview of Entrance Barriers
This chapter introduces the learner to the assessment and modification of entrance barriers, including ADA recommendations for modifying doorways, and introduces key steps for evaluating and measuring doorways.
2. Doorway Width and Threshold Solutions
The second chapter of this course provides detailed instructions for evaluating and gathering evidence for door width and threshold solutions. This chapter utilizes real world examples of modifying thresholds, widening doorways, and making other modifications to attain ADA standards.
3. Door Use
How can occupational therapists ensure that their patients are able to safely and effectively access entrances? This chapter describes the reasoning behind and steps for implementing solutions including adaptive devices for knobs, lever devices, and door openers.
4. Question and Answer
In the final chapter of this course, Marnie Renda sits down with a practicing therapist to discuss real world cases of problem solving and creating modifications to improve quality of life for patients.
