Presented by Aimee Piller, PhD, OTR/L, BCP, FAOTA
Reflex Integration: Introduction to the Use of Occupation
Interventions designed to integrate suspected poorly integrated primitive reflexes have grown in popularity for pediatric occupational therapy. This course will examine the theoretical basis for reflex integration and discuss how it has changed since the early years of sensory integration. It will also provide practitioners an introduction on how to use occupation in assessment and intervention for reflex integration.
Reflex Integration: Assessment Within the Context of Occupation
Presented by Aimee Piller, PhD, OTR/L, BCP, FAOTA
Reflex Integration: Assessment Within the Context of Occupation
This course will provide an overview of assessment methods for children with suspected sensory processing differences that may also demonstrate suspected poorly integrated reflexes. Participants will learn how to generate a plan for evaluation of sensorimotor functions and reflexes using occupation. Participants will practice using assessment data to generate a hypothesis and link proximal to distal outcomes when generating an assessment plan for children with suspected poorly integrated reflexes.
Reflex Integration: Providing Occupation-Based Interventions
Presented by Aimee Piller, PhD, OTR/L, BCP, FAOTA
Reflex Integration: Providing Occupation-Based Interventions
This course reviews the link between reflex integration and sensory processing differences. The course will focus on how to provide occupational therapy interventions for suspected poorly integrated reflexes that are occupation based rather than concentrating on integrating reflexes and movement patterns without an occupation component.
Reflex Integration: The Role of Sensory Processing
Presented by Aimee Piller, PhD, OTR/L, BCP, FAOTA
Reflex Integration: The Role of Sensory Processing
This course reviews the link between reflex integration and sensory processing differences. The course will focus on how reflex integration treatment fits within the framework of sensory integration and how to apply sensory interventions to address motor performance and reflex integration within the context of occupation.
Trauma-Informed Care in Pediatric Occupational Therapy
Presented by Aimee Piller, PhD, OTR/L, BCP, FAOTA
Trauma-Informed Care in Pediatric Occupational Therapy
This course provides an introduction to the unique role of the occupational therapist using a trauma-informed care approach when working with children. The course will define trauma-informed care as it relates to occupational therapy, discuss how to identify the need for a trauma-informed approach, provide specific techniques on the role of sensory processing under a trauma-informed lens, and provide a practical intervention strategy to facilitate adaptation toward success for children with a history of trauma.
